Riccione, as many Romagnan seaside resorts, carries an old history of living at the sea, made up of fishermen lifes, antique fish shops, ichthyic markets, recipes and secrets of cuisine, handed on from one generation to another. In Riccione, like nowhere else, one has a possibility to try extraoridinary dishes based on fish, sitting on open air in the seaside pub, viewing the sea and enjoying sweet marine breeze. There are also bars offering delicious kebabs to be enjoyed during a walk on the promenade. When you look at an impressing list of dishes from which to choose, Riccione has nothing to be ashamed of: there are grilled blue fish, broths, first course dishes based on mussels, lobsters, clams and prawns and main dishes based on turbots, cefali, black sea bass and sea-bass.
If you are looking for an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere Azzurra restaurant at the seafront and Il Pescatore, a few steps from Ceccarini Street, offer predominantly fish based cuisine and are frequented by “Riccione’s flower” and other notable people.
For a less formal atmosphere, but equal quality food, we recommend restaurants Da Fino (on the pier), Osteria del Mare and pizzeria La Fattoria del Mare (both at the seafront), also Cavalluccio Marino at the harbour canal, open only at summertime. Finally, a restaurant pizzeria Canasta, at Ceccarini Street, offers fish and meat based menu and the finest pizza.
At summertime fish can also be tasted directly on the beach, in restaurants open til sunrise and accompanied by lovely music and sweet marine breeze. Of all most frequented we suggest Hakuna Matata Cafè, in ethnic style, ideal for a dinner or after the dinner time, romantic or spent with friends. To name more, there is also Sol Y Mar, open all year round at the seafront and Beach Cafè (only summertime), where you can also taste piadinas and toasts.
There are restaurants offering fish specialities, open all year round, also when you move away from the seaside. Among mostly appreciated by Riccioners we find Alfredo, still on the coast and, moving further inside, Dal Baffo and a new eatinghouse Aquasalata, all characterised by a stunning quality/price ratio.
If you simply want to try a delicious pizza, we recommend Hops! in the harbour, probably the most famous of all Riccione’s pizzerias, also a brewery. In fact, in here you can try four types of freshly brewed beer. At last, but certainly not least, we advise to step in The Trampolines, at the seafront, that apart from finest pizza, offers meat and fish menu for celiacs.
