Happy hours is a practice of promoting the sells, brought to life in anglosaxon countries in order to attract customers to come to a pub after work finishing hours. The offer is “buy one get one free” in the late afternoons.
In Italy, happy hours were born as an appetizer extras at moments foregoing dinner or supper. Now, there is a tendency to substitute "two for a price of one" appetizers with a gastronomic offer.
Once again it was Riccione to anticipate the trend, as happy hours in local pubs evoluated into spoon apperitifs and finger food (literary food to be nibbled with hand).
On the coffee shops’ terraces you will find tacos, olives, toasts, piadinas stuffed with diverse specialities, tapas, crocchetta, crudité, nachos, miniquiches, vol-au-vent, cold and warm pastas, rise salads, salty pies, various salads, cous cous, meat balls, burgers, prawns, vegetables … and then a "fusion" of ethnic cuisines with Mexican, Indian, Japanese and Spanish inspirations etc.
In conclusion, happy hours have recently bacome a reunion occassion for students, professionals leaving work, people of entertainment and fashion world, a moment of the day dedicated to gatherings. You cannot believe it? Go and check at Pepper or Bodeguita del Medio, in the centre, or at Makkaroni Disco Bar, a few metres from Ceccarini Street.
