HISTORY AND CULTURE - Museum of Territory

Territory Museum
  Il Museo del Territorio

In Museum of territory are present most significant testimonies relating to Riccione and its neighbourhood, from prehistory to the Roman times. Human presence is documented in direct relation to the developmenmt of the territory also through illustrations and interesting reconstructions of environmental conditions.

Visit to the Museum is a fascinating trip across geological times. The first introductive sector summarizes the stages of land's origins and evolution and leads to a presentation of the territory’s geological structure with rich choice of fossils, rocks and minerals.

Skeletal remains of impressive prehistoric bison, elephants, bears and rhinoceros seen in the zone thousands of years ago are put on a display divided into dedactical sectors. Paleolith, first neolithic settlements and metal age are well documented by the objects made of stone and bones, ceramic and metallic items etc. originating from prehistoric villages of Riccione and its neighbourings.

The exposition tour concludes with a Roman conquest and colonisation of the territory. In addition objects from an important settlement of San Lorenzo in Strada are on display, a place by the antique consolar road Flaminia: balsamic bowls, lamps, toilette objects, coins etc. from villas and productive sites spread all over the region.

Museum is situated within Cultural Centre of Pesa.
