The Palio del Daino – Medieval Feast

palio del daino mondainoFrom 19 to 22 August 2010 the Palio del Daino (Palio of the Deer) will take place in Mondaino, to give people a dip of rare intensity in the middle ages.
Riccione Turismo advises ladies and knights, damsels and pageboy of all the world to take part in what since 1988 is one of Italy’s most fascinating historical commemorations.
The flags of the “contradas” are already waving under the Rocca Malatestiana (Malatesta’s fortress): invite people to the Palio that will back Mondaino to the time when it was Mount Deer, that “strong and important place, that at no agreement may be conquered”, as Frederick of Montefeltro said. Medieval holidays in Monte Cerignone

feste medievali montecerignoneIn the weekend from July 16th to 18th, the medieval suburb of Monte Cerignone relives its own origins celebrating “Mons Cerignonis”, eleventh edition of the suggestive medieval holidays organized by the Pro Loco association. During three days, in fact, in the characteristic suburb of the Montefeltro the time will return back of almost a millennium, and in every street and place they will unthread Dukes with their jugglers, minstrels.
With the 2010’s edition, “Mons Cerignonis” celebrates this year the sun and the moon, masculine and female elements of the life, with a big program of initiatives, among games, shows and historical re-enactments.
On begin in the evening of Friday 16th July with the opening, at 7 pm, of the medieval market, with artisans’ shops, taverns and hostarie. (continua…)

Italy Gourmet Weekend in Automn

This is the traditional festival “Fossa cheese, truffles and Cerere“, a fair dedicated to a series of delightful surprises that can be tasted and purchased during the event directly from local producers.
Two are the main protagonists of this celebration: the white and black truffles from the Hills of Rimini and the Fossa Cheese, a pecorino cheese ripened in special tufa pits within the castle of Mondaino, used for storage of agricultural products since antiquity. (continua…)
