The low tide in Venice

Filed under: CITIES of ART — naimaisonline @ 11:41

How much time did we hear alarms and faintnesses caused by the high tide in Venice? Since yesterday the news is another one: the low tide in Venice.
Blocked the watery, missed distribution of the foodstuffs, no interventions of assistance, like ambulances and teams of fireman, no rubbish collecting… etc..
There is not Venice as we imagine in postcard, the water city with the gondoles in its canals: these typical boats and their gondolieri are stranded as cetaceans on the beach… Because of a strange juncture of astronomical events, lunar cycle, tides and of high atmospheric pressure, never, like this February, the annual cyclic phenomenon of the low tide in the Lagoon had appeared so important.
The exceptional retirement of water relates to all the Adriatic Sea and naturally also to the port canal of Riccione.
As you can see in the photo, with great stupor of its inhabitants and its visitors, the port channel is dry with its small inclined boats, as if they were thirsty and exhausted by this strange lack of water.
Waiting for the sudden and stormy rains in March, the astronomical economic situations will pass , the lunar phase  will pass and the high tide will return to restore Venice, water city, and Riccione, sea city and high tradition of sailors!

The Carnival of Venice

Filed under: CITIES of ART — naimaisonline @ 16:00

mask_veniceEvery year, Venice celebrates the Carnival. Reserving a stay in Riccione, benefiting from lower price, to enjoy the spectacle of Venice, it is an excellent solution.
The Carnival has pagan origins, from Greeks and Latins, and marks the passage from winter into spring. During this time, many excess were allowed: festivals, shows, bet, casinos…
During this time the poor could pretend themselves rich and of viceversa. Already in 1700 Venice was known as the city of entertainment and many tourists took part to the fun.
carnival_venice2In February the city is filled of colors and of masks: artists, jugglers, buskers, dancers and music! S.Marco Square is the center of the historical commemorations: official festivals, processions and the Flight of Turk (an acrobat who goes down on a rope from the bell-tower from San Marco). The are many proposal during the Carnival: private party, theatres, operette and special evenings. fireworks-veniceThe fireworks are spectacular and accompany the superb evenings in Venice. The Carnival is imagination and disguise, masks everywhere, traditional or originale habits all around you!
We also report the Carnival of Cento and the Carnival of Fano.

Reserve one weekend in one of the fantastic hotels of Riccione and join the fun!

A day in Florence

Filed under: CITIES of ART — naimaisonline @ 16:38

From Riccione to Florence, fatherland of the Italian language and the Renaissance.Firenze The most significant monuments are concentrated in the historical center of the city, declared UNESCO World Heritage, since 1982: Piazza della Signoria, Galleria Degli Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio…it seems to have treasures in every angle!

Along the road SR 258, from the Adriatic coast, in one hour you reach Tuscany, you cross
Valdarno and then you arrive in Florence. The journey is an interesting voyage to underline the points of contacts between Tuscany and Romagna. Sweet hills, wonderful landscapes of cultivated grounds. A secular experience in the typical cultivations: vineyard and olive trees. Toscana_colline
Grapes used to obtain Chianti wine, the most famous among Italian wines, is the grape of Sangiovese. The fatherland of Sangiovese is Romagna and in the last ten years, this wine raised visible and constant qualitative growth and has obtained the labels: IGT, DOC., DOC. Novello, DOC. Superior.

Today, Romagna is also an excellent producer of extra vergin olive oil. This olive oil is an highchiesa_s.biagio_saludecio range oil and has obtained the Denomination of Protected Origin (D.O.P.) “Hills of Romagna”, thanks to its quality and to low acidity.

In November, many country festivals are organized in honour of these excellent products, we report “Fiera dei Becchi” (S.Arcangelo di Romagna) to taste Sangiovese Doc. Novello and “Festival of the olive oil and the products of autumn” (Coriano), to taste “the new oil”.

As on Tuscan hills, in the hinterland you find many rocca_torrianasmall well preserved medieval boroughs, castles, churches and convents. Many foreign, English and Dutch tourists, have already discovered the beauties of the Adriatic hinterland and, as it occurred in Tuscany, buy old houses, historical one or whole boroughs to restructure!

T
he are many resemblances, to you the pleasure of discovering them!

Rome-Rimini: a road called Via Flaminia.

Filed under: CITIES of ART — naimaisonline @ 12:33

During your stay in one of the hotels of Riccione, you can think about a visit to Rome.

The roman history offers an alternative and very suggestive tourist route along the Via Flaminia road.

The Via Flaminia road is an old consular road which connects Rome to Rimini.
It was started towards 220 a.C. to join the Adriatic coast quickly.Via Flaminia Fori imperiali

The road, long beyond 200 roman miles , from Rome, cross the Door Fontinalis, close to Campidoglio and continue towards Milvio Bridge. From there, it goes up the valley of Tevere crossing Ombrie.
In Narni it splits into two ways: “Flaminia vetus” and “Flaminia nova”.
The two roads join in Foligno and continue towards Nocera Umbra, Gualdo Tadino, Fossato di Vico, to cross Appennini at the step of Scheggia (Mr. 632). In 76 d.C. gallery of Furlo allowed an easier crossing.

The Via Flaminia road goes down on the Adriatic slope along the valley from Metauro: Cantiano, Cagli, Fossombrone, Fano, Pesaro and finally, Rimini, outpost of strategies of expansion of republican and imperial Rome.
Modern viability is often superimposed on old one, but for long features, the Via Flaminia road is still quite visible.
Arco augusto front.jpgThe Arch of Augusto, one of the oldest arcs of trionphe, marked the end of the Flaminia and the beginning of girded of Rimini.

ponte_tiberio

The city is identified at such point with the Roman history, that either the Arch of Augusto, or Tiberio Bridge (14 d.c.) are both symbols of the city.

Have a nice time!
