Every year, Venice celebrates the Carnival. Reserving a stay in Riccione, benefiting from lower price, to enjoy the spectacle of Venice, it is an excellent solution.
The Carnival has pagan origins, from Greeks and Latins, and marks the passage from winter into spring. During this time, many excess were allowed: festivals, shows, bet, casinos…
During this time the poor could pretend themselves rich and of viceversa. Already in 1700 Venice was known as the city of entertainment and many tourists took part to the fun.
In February the city is filled of colors and of masks: artists, jugglers, buskers, dancers and music! S.Marco Square is the center of the historical commemorations: official festivals, processions and the Flight of Turk (an acrobat who goes down on a rope from the bell-tower from San Marco). The are many proposal during the Carnival: private party, theatres, operette and special evenings.
The fireworks are spectacular and accompany the superb evenings in Venice. The Carnival is imagination and disguise, masks everywhere, traditional or originale habits all around you!
