The hill of pleasures of Torriana
Torriana, Montebello and “Azzurrina”
It comes back also in 2008 - with a name that remember a sort of “pole of the abundance” - the event “Scorticata“. The hill of pleasures” of Torriana, culinary event devoted to the typical tastes and the good food.
Commune of few more than 1.400 inhabitants on the hills of the Valmarecchia, up to 1938 called “Scorticata” - yet today “Scurghêda” in Romagna’s dialect - from the name of the Mountain on which it raises, Torriana represents an old castled suburb dominated by the imposing Fortress malatestiana.
Of origin Villanoviana, it is united to many towns of the provinces in Rimini and Forlì-Cesena by the Dominion of the Malatestas (also after dominations between Republic of Venice and Pontifical State) so much that the legend narrates that in its castle Gianciotto Malatesta had been killed.
In its streets, from 23 to July 25th 2008, “Scorticata. The hill of pleasures” will propose the best of the typical gastronomy of Romagna, with a lot of tasting of the products for the visitors and music.
In couple with Torriana the near suburb of Montebello goes, few kilometres far and that on 6 and 7 September it will welcome the 21st Honey Festival devoted to this important natural food and to beekeeping.
Montebello is mainly famous however for its Castle, inside which you can visit the Fortress Museum.
In the spaces of the Castle of Montebello it seems in fact to wander the ghost of “Azzurrina”, whose legend narrates of an albino baby and from the blue hair dead tragically in the’ 300 falling in the castle and whose spirit would still wander in the Fortress in the nights of the solstice in summer.
Someone would also have recorded his “complaint” coming from the undergrounds, and what is possible to listen during the visit-tour of the Castle.
Torriana and Montebello are worth well a stop!
