Natural reserves in the hinterland of Riccione

Archiviato in: BACK-COUNTRY — arininchi @ 10:03

montebello
If a walk in the green is for you a therapy for the soul, in the hinterland of Riccione you will reach the peace of senses.

The Oasis of Montebello, the River Park of Marano, the Natural Reserve of Onferno, the Arboreto of Mondaino and the Park of the Quarry, are the natural reserves that, a few kilometres from the coast, offer you a lot of fresh and evocative trails, ideal for your excursions.

The Oasis of Montebello, in the municipality of Torriana, has been recognized by the European Union as a sensitive area from the environmental point of view.
Created in 1993 to protect a landscape that is very interesting for its vegetation, for the many species of wild animals and for its geological peculiarity (the presence of gaseous formations), the oasis covers 1200 hectares and is home to the Natural Observatory of Valmarecchia.

In the River Park of Marano, in the municipality of Coriano, you will come into contact with a rich and seductive flora and along the paths you will probably run across specimens of small mammals, hear the cuckoo and see the kingfisher diving into the water of the river to eat.

The Natural Reserve of Onferno, in the municipality of Gemmano, is known for its caves.
Along the underground way you will be guided through the canyons and the bottlenecks that were created from the erosive water and you will reach the greatest natural spectacle of the giant clusters of crystal.

We suggest hiking shoes and heavy sweat.

The Arboreto of Mondaino, in its nine hectares of forests, has more than five thousand plants that are representative of the Mediterranean bush.
It hosts the Dimora Theatre and its workshops of theatre and dance.

The Park of the Quarry, in the municipality of Poggio Berni, is situated near a fossil field of which it fosters the findings.
For guided tours you must book at least five days in advance to the office of tourism.

Not only trekking therefore in the hinterland of Riccione, but a fresh and enveloping embrace by nature which, so protected, can really be a cure for your soul.

The area inland at Riccione has, for many years now, attracted cycle tourists from all over Europe  due to its breath-taking landscapes, the stunning tours of varying difficulty on offer and genuine, delicious gastronomy.

But a holiday at Riccione is more besides: you can discover the history and culture of the people that live in the villages and towns of a region rich in grand monuments, folklore and art crafts.

You can visit important historical buildings, masterpieces such as the majestic forts that symbolize the power of two great seigniories of the Middle Ages and Renaissance: Malatesta and Montefeltro.

Sigismondo Malatesta and Federico da Montefeltro were responsible for much cultural and artistic development, countless works for tourists to discover on a fascinating and exciting “treasure hunt” around Romagna and Le Marche: the Caccia delle Signorie (The Seigniory hunt).

Valmarecchia: Malatesta’s reign

Among the Gran Fondo competitive, the Nove Colli it’s with no doubt the one that on Adriatic Coast counts on the major number of starters.

Desire to participate at this event is so high to induce the organizers to set a ceiling of 11.000 starters. Limit that was taken to guarantee the best safety conditions to the participants. The 11.000 adhesions were reached this year with 3 months in advance and officially “closed” on 18th February.

Coppi Bartali Marathon 2008

Archiviato in: SPORT — arininchi @ 12:02

coppi-bartali-2008 Riccione, Hotel des Bains, March 17, 2008: Coppi met Bartali

The chronometer has started: the round of the 10th International Coppi and Bartali Week has been revealed by Gruppo Sportivo Emilia. Scheduled from March 25 to 29, it will see 24 teams involved.
They will start from Riccione and the first day of the race is divided into two semilaps. In the morning the first fraction: a circuit of about 11 km, almost entirely flat with a small spurt that, after many rounds, could make the selection before the home-stretch on the sea-front. In the afternoon the race will move to Misano for the second semilap. This is a team time trial with no significant altimetrical difficulties: 12 km flat like the sea on a day without wind to eat up at a very high speed before the final rush to Porto Verde.

On Wednesday 26 the second lap, Castel San Pietro Terme - Faenza: departure from Piazza XX Settembre with an urban mini circuit to be performed 4 times. Then Castel Guelfo di Bologna, Mordano, Bagnara di Romagna, Solarolo. After a quick passage close to Faenza, where the cyclists will come back for the arrival, they will twice face the Grand Prix of the Mountain of Monte Carla that is to be feared and could hurt after 80 km of race.

But the most longed for day will be on Thursday, when the cyclists, starting from Rocca Boiardesca of Scandiano, will climb up to Barigazzo to reach 1217 metres, the summit of the event. Arrival at Pavullo.

On Friday lap devoted to sprinters from Rio Saliceto to Finale Emilia, with 182 km to go at a hellish pace before trying the decisive stab.
The event will end on Saturday with Castellarano - Sassuolo, more than a conclusive carousel: in the centre of Castellarano the cyclists will be faced with the ascent of the Castle, a real wall with prohibitive slopes like a Belgian classic.
Who will still have strenght, will be able to launch towards Sassuolo to win the last round of this exciting race.

Coppi and Bartali would be proud to know that also this year the number 145 that belonged to Marco Pantani will not be assigned.
