Riccione has a firmly-rooted culture of cycle use, and the local area is well adapted to the needs of cyclists. The green spaces in Riccione, the cycle-paths, and a strong sense of civic pride have all contributed to expanding the tourist offering, and now the town has a tradition of welcoming visitors with bikes which goes back several decades. Sporting types, athletes on the move, cycling enthusiasts and lovers of sports holidays who visit Riccione know that here they can find well-equipped hotels with a range of facilities; including safe bike-stores, workshops, efficient laundry services, bike tutors and flexible meal-times. In addition, and thanks to input by the Province of Rimini, the town offers attractive cycle routes of varying difficulty, suitable for every level of training and ambition.
The Riviera Horses riding centre, one of the best of its type in Europe, is located at San Giovanni in Marignano (RN). The centre covers an area of about 115,000 m² in the lovely, unspoilt Conca Valley, close to Riccione and not far from Rimini. There are other riding centres near Riccione where you can spend a day out riding in natural surroundings, including the “Il Fondo” estate, in the beautiful Conca natural park. This centre organises lessons for adults, children and disabled people, and caters both for beginners and expert riders. The Marignanese Horse Riding Centre is open all year round and offers riding lessons for ages 4 upwards, with classes both for beginners and competitive show-jumpers. In summer, the centre is open all day, but in winter only in the afternoons, from 2.00 to 7.00 pm.
The Riviera Golf Resort is set in the countryside just west of Riccione, at San Giovanni in Marignano, only 3 km from the sea. Riviera Golf Resort extends along the right bank of the River Conca, an area of great natural beauty. It offers an 18-hole, par-72 course, over a total of 6,412 metres, plus a 9-hole Executive course and Pitch & Putt: two new 18-hole putting greens (for pitching and chipping). In addition to this, there’s the lovely Riviera Beauty spa, complete with wellness centre, gym, massage area, and relaxation zone.
Riccione is a partner of the Italian Squash Federation (FIGS) and hosts the Federal Technical Centre, chosen by the national squash team as its official base. The Centre is one of the most modern and well-equipped complexes in Italy for practising this sport. With seven squash courts, it provides an ideal venue for keeping fit as well as having fun during your sporting holiday.
Over recent years, we have seen another sport become popular on the beaches and in the parks of Riccione: Nordic Walking. It involves walking with special rackets fitted to your feet, which ensure that the upper part of the body is exercised as you move. This sport provides a simple but effective way of improving your wellbeing, regardless of age, sex or physical condition.
